The history of plant-human relationships vary across the world, yet all cultures have cultivated deep relationships with their native plant species, magically and medicinally. In this workshop, we will introduce practical herbalism for wellness and healing, including methods of harvesting, processing and consuming a variety of herbs, roots, and mushrooms and their medicinal benefits. We will also cover their various uses of these herbs, as well as methods for integrating them into our lives. The second portion of this course will cover the basics of field botany and wildcrafting.

This class will be led by Cloud, director of Earth Arts, an environmentalist, activist and artist living in New York. She has been an apprentice of herbalism at Flower Power Herbs and Roots since 2014, and has collegiate experience in ethnobotany and Linnean botany. She graduated from Barnard College with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy & Science , and has a Masters of Public Administration in Environmental Policy and Science from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. She is the founder of the Earth Arts, an ecology, arts and wellness focused community center, in Bushwick. Her work focuses on healing the Earth-Human relationship through compassion and awareness.
